About Me
Motorcycle Mechanic
I worked for 3 years as the head mechanic of House of Motorrad in Boulder, Colorado where I honed my skills of problem solving, engineering intuition, and lots of hands on experience
Hobby Inventor
From a young age I considered myself a hobby inventor, always researching and building in my garage. I have worked on projects ranging from turbocharging a motorcycle to building my own physical vapor deposition chamber
Automotive Engineer
I currently work at Dorman Products as an automotive engineer specializing in the resourcing of new components to grow regions such as India and Thailand
Web Design
I built this entire website and host it myself. It is a 1U server chassis with an Intel i7 7700T, 64gb DDR4 ram and 500gb nvme storage. This server is running Proxmox as a hypervisor to allow backups of the entire system. It runs Ubuntu 22.04.3 as a virtual machine, and the program I’m using to host and build the website is WordPress. I purchased the domain name wilsonfabrication.net from a registrar in November of 2023, and shortly after the purchase I set up my email [email protected] using MXroute.com as my email hosting service. I decided not to self-host my email for security reasons and because self-hosting your email is likely to send your message straight to people’s spam. Currently, I’m using Gmail as my mail interface to send and receive from. This project arose from my desire to create a portfolio of projects that I am proud to share. This has been a long time desire of mine as I first attempted this project in April of 2018 and later took two front end web development classes during my 2022 school year at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Fabrication
Wilson Fabrication started as a class assignment in my engineering design class called “Text.” This class is where I first created my logo, consisting of two pistons in a V configuration, my favorite motorcycle cylinder arrangement (Think Aprilia, Honda RC51, please DO NOT think Harley Davidson). Even though my professor did not like my logo or branding, I still carried the branding forward because I am proud of what I created.
The first use of the Wilson Fabrication branding was in the creation of my Youtube channel WilsonFabrication which I started to document the building of what I considered at the time to be the “Ultimate Adventure Bike” for my engineering final project. Though this project had many shortcomings, I am still incredibly proud of it and happy that it was the launch of Wilson Fabrication
Special thanks to Kari for helping me put together this website and for being incredibly cool and supportive of all the weird projects that happen in our apartment
